Would you take a dream job if it meant a large pay cut?
About 40% less?

Was offered a job this morning with this company,

https://www.everymanracing.co.uk/

During the interview the bloke said ‘we put you on a course and on Event days you do the instruction’

Teaching joe public to rag a Ferrari around a race track plus you get a go yourself.

Only problem is the wages -£100 a day ,

Decisions decisions .

My other half did. He is a Chairman for a non league club now and earns a very meagre salary but is effectively playing football manager for real! Narked me a touch initially dropping from a rather large salary to do it, but, I can see it's merits now. We were lucky to be in a situation that allowed him to do so though.

I’m at the other end of the scale on this - I’d love to leave my job, I hate it, but can’t afford to. I wouldn’t even need a dream job to go to just something not so shit

If you can afford to do it, go for it - life’s too short to not take the chance to be happy, and I’d imagine you can go back to what you’re doing now if it doesn’t work out for some reason?

Driving Ferraris sounds fantastic to me, but instructing Joe Public to drive them!!! Fucking hell I would say you will get at least half your punters seeing you pulling your hair out in frustration. It will be dickheads who think they are Nigel Mansell and wont listen to a word you say, but will blame you if they crash, or people who cant drive for shit anyway, or those with there heads so far up there arse they will treat you like some kind of servant, then you will get the just plain rude cunt you want to punch, The other half will be ok though………..

Good luck if you do it.

Just my 2 pence worth BUT

Problem with these dreams of the ideal job is they can quickly turn into the same old routine, yes it may sound like bliss to drive Ferraris all day etc but after a few months doing it I reckon the novelty and excitement would dry up, not to mention the frustration from dealing with the public, it would be just going through the motions each day.

Unless there is another level you can go to in a job, and you have something to aspire to and achieve that’s meaningful then a job can become pretty boring after a while if it’s the same thing day in day out.

Know if you were racing the cars yourself or teaching/coaching someone over a period of time then it may be different matter, but a bunch of wannabes and idiots just for the day???

Yeah, EM Rogers are up my way, nice business that but can't offer any specifics
The blue rigs where Walon, bought by Stobart and then sold to BCA, who now run 700 plus TP's having also bought Paragon. I would skip them
Look into covered rigs to Europe down the track, but first familiarise yourself with Everyman, if you can and do go there

Do it.
I did to work for an employer that I actually wanted to work for in the charity sector five years ago and haven't regretted it for a minute.

I guess the sex is a bonus

EM Rodgers with the green trucks ,

One of the big transporter firms (blue rigs) was bought out by Stobart and they have royally fucked it up by all accounts .

If you hear of anything interesting message me.

I'm quite content with what I do now and have done in the past

I've been involved in some major projects,3 HSR projects1 in Taiwan and 2 in China as well a 250km overhaul of Malaysian Railway from Thai border to Ipoh. Singapore and Doha Metro's

Always a sense of achievement when these projects are completed

Those green rigs - BCA? I'd give them a swerve if I were you, better options around,
It is absolute peak in the TP world now, busiest time of the year what with the new registration and trade ins pulling through after lifting the used market, Just not enough class ones about on the general fleets let alone specialists, so there will always be a job for a good experienced TP lad
Yes I am, among other things but not as a driver.

I’ve often looked at the Kent Vale trucks as they go about their day but never done anything about it , another co dies similar work green trucks and trailers but forget the name .

I generally drive black trucks with the odd purple and yellow one thrown in , it’s the same co these days , Trans am bought EST a few years ago when Edwin’s went bust.

Seen 11 transporter jobs offering a grand a week , rock and roll pays more purely because we get paid 45s .

Down side is listening to the same show night after night.

You in the transporter game?

Not talking about the box semi trailers mate but the open draw bars, Everyman use these, learn on the job if you can then, if you wish, easily jump onto TP work. The money is in the covered rigs running exotica into Europe, but the standard open rig drivers are well paid on UK work

The F1 work is naturally seasonal, lots of sitting about but well enough paid and very tidy kit, if that is your thing, quite often lads work this as a regular freelance aside a core job.

'Racing powerful shit around a track (even on a track-day) is THE greatest buzz you can get in life.'

Many a broken woman will be disappointed in that statement, Chiminator.

Joe

You will soon get bored of the cunts turning up to thrash the cars and unable to find a gear let alone drive the fuckers

No worries though, get Everyman to train you on Plus 11 draw bar TP's whilst you are at it, 6 moths of that and if it all goes Pete you will walk into covered Euro TP role anywhere, at far higher payline than running standard rigs, with less grief
